This is a mission critical role for Amnesty International Australia (AI Australia). Reporting to the National Director, you have the responsibility for ensuring the successful holistic implementation of AI Australia’s digital innovation, digital marketing, fundraising and communications strategy and organisational technology and data strategy.

You will work to ensure the experience of our supporters (defined broadly as members, activists, donors, volunteers and action takers) is best in class and drives motivation and commitment in line with Amnesty's strategic framework.

Job Description

As part of the executive team, you will contribute to collective leadership, and as the Communications and Digital Innovation Director, you will:

  • Lead high performing Data and Technology, Media and Digital Engagement and Communications teams
  • Oversee AI Australia’s IT Roadmap and Data and Technology strategy
  • Lead transformational change that prioritises digital acceleration and demonstrates innovation
  • Oversee digital communications and fundraising strategy and implementation
  • Performing role to a high standard within agreed timelines, and in line with AI Australia’s strategic framework and values as well as your individual leadership, revenue and performance KPIs
  • Implement our diversity, inclusion and wellbeing commitments as required
  • Cross organisational project management and collaboration to implement integrated solutions
  • Work in partnership with key stakeholders from Amnesty’s International Secretariat (IS) and other global sections

Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate experience in:

  • Leading and implementing strategy including project management
  • Strong organisational leadership and development of high performing teams
  • Achieving collaborative change across and within an organisation or movement
  • An ability to analyse and present data analytics and insights
  • Successful development and management of expenditure budgets
  • Familiarity with human rights issues and social change methods and tactics, including experience of mass mobilisation, activism and organising techniques

Selection Criteria

    • Share your experience in quickly stepping into a complex role, and ensuring that projects and work are kept on track and delivered within tight timeframes
    • Provide an example of when you have managed a large, remotely based team and how you ensured cohesion and performance across projects/functions
    • Provide an example of how you have developed and implemented a digital strategy to drive action, fundraising growth and/or enhance supporter experience, and the results of that work
    • Outline your experience working with and/or leading technology and data teams to deliver cross-organisational, multi-stakeholder value and enhance security and performance
