This is an exciting opportunity to lead the community campaigns team, ensuring impactful organising and mobilising strategies are being delivered for our Indigenous youth justice campaign, climate justice campaign and international portfolio. 

The role is responsible for ensuring that campaigns centre and amplify the voice of lived experience and drives the team to build partnerships, coalitions and networks with communities, institutions, movements and the social justice sector, working towards a thriving human rights community in Australia. 

This role is responsible for championing people power and leading a creative and innovative team who working towards growing the size and visible presence of a human rights movement in Australia  

The salary for this position is $123,393 + super + not for profit salary packaging.

Job Description

AS PART OF THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:  

  • Manage and lead a high performing team to develop, execute and monitor cohesive community change strategies (depth + scale) in line with the people powered strategy  
  • Work in collaboration with the campaign strategy and advocacy manager and the community engagement manager to ensure that campaign strategy delivers on its goals  
  • Ensure that communities of lived-in experience are centred in our campaigning efforts  
  • Lead the team to develop processes and practices to support autonomous campaigning and to support and amplify the calls and asks of communities and movements  
  • Drive the team to grow the human rights community in Australia and work towards building a rights respecting society  
  • Support and drive collaboration and growth opportunities across the organisation and ensure the community campaigns team is working to drive the visible presence of our movement in communities across Australia   
  • Drive integration within the team and across the unit  
  • Develop a focused data driven team who are developing strategies based on solid community mapping and audience insights  

Desired Skills and Experience

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE: 

  • Experience in a similar, senior role in a not-for-profit organisation in Australia and of leading a geographically dispersed team  
  • Proven experience with demonstrated results in designing, developing and overseeing cohesive community change strategies (depth + scale);  
  • Solid experience of building networks and partnerships;   
  • Understanding of the Australian political system and the ability to drive data driven mapping to targets;  
  • Solid project management skills and ability to lead a high performing team;   
  • Proven ability to collaborate and drive integration of work;   
  • Demonstrated experience in or commitment to working with and alongside communities of lived experience  
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and managing projects towards achievement of agreed outcomes, including co design practices and stakeholder consultation. 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Relevant higher education degree in marketing or community engagement;  
  • Additional training, knowledge and experience in designing contemporary community campaigns for impact;  
  • Familiarity with human rights issues and social change methods; 
  • Experience of developing co-designed strategies for community change in the social justice sector; 
  • Solid understanding of not for profit, and values based organisations.  

This role is ideally suited to a senior community campaign professional, who has sound experience in championing people power and mobilising campaigns for high impact.  

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate previous experience in building and sustaining high performing teams, leading transformational change and strong communication and stakeholder management skills to with a collaborative approach.
