The IDEA Manager is responsible for providing strategic and tactical advice and operational support to develop, implement, embed and drive AIA’s IDEA strategies and programs of initiatives.

The IDEA Manager will report directly to the National Director, and work in collaboration with AIA’s People & Culture team, and executive leadership.

Job Description

AS PART OF THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Manage the implementation of AIA’s IDEA framework and related strategies, plans and learning and development.

● Coordinate IDEA initiatives and events working closely with the People and Culture Advisor.

● Work collaboratively across the organisation and movement, and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to embed IDEA into organisation wide practices, processes and policies.

● Undertake research to support the work of AIA in assessing and evaluating the effectiveness of IDEA projects and initiatives.

● Attend and represent AIA on IDEA forums, networks and events.

● Produce and deliver accessible and inclusive communications as relevant to the role, using a range of channels and technologies.

● Provide secretariat support to the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group and lead the implementation of the RAP. 

● Identify the IDEA learning and development needs of the organisation and develop resources and training to address IDEA knowledge and capability gaps.

● Maintain intranet/internet content, workforce data reporting and resource development to provide IDEA support to the organisation and movement.

● Understand and promote the latest research, thinking and practice on key IDEA areas and make recommendations to the broader organisation.

● Monitor and assess our policies, processes and practices for barriers that do not support AIA’s IDEA vision.

● Develop and promote tools, policies and resources to enhance employee understanding on IDEA issues.

● Assist the Amnesty Management Team (AMT) and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in embedding IDEA into their work, providing them advice and building their IDEA capabilities

● Collaborate with the People and Culture team to embed IDEA into human resources processes, policies and practices. 

● Monitor, evaluate and report on the progress of IDEA activities across AIA.

● Support the setting up of employee networks and resource groups.

● Support AIA with international IDEA commitments to the International Secretariat and the Racial Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) Community of Practice (CoP).

● Support AIA to fulfil the commitment to build the IDEA capability of sections in the Asia Pacific region.

● Perform the role to a high standard within agreed timelines, and in line with AIA’s vision and strategic framework.

● Ensure the timely, efficient and effective performance of all administrative duties to meet the requirements of AIA’s IDEA goals.

● Provide timely and evidence based responses to requests for information and assistance from the Board, National Director and executive leadership

● Act as an internal expert on IDEA including being up to date on external trends, latest research and best practices.

● Other tasks as required of the role to promote IDEA within AIA and AI globally.

The role is offered as a permanent, part time opportunity - 60 hours per fortnight and can be based from any of our Action Centres across Australia. The salary for this position is $132,404 plus super with salary packaging available to maximise your take-home pay.
