Opportunities in which we’d need your support in content gathering will be ad-hoc and dependent on what activists and staff in your region have planned, so this will be a low-commitment volunteer role in which we’ll be in touch at varied times of the year with content gathering opportunities, while also aiming to give you as much notice as possible.
As a member of the National Photography Network, some of your main responsibilities will include:
-
Attending some initial training sessions to develop a deeper understanding of Amnesty International Australia’s work and our messaging and branding
-
Being available to help photograph and capture multi-media content at activist and / or staff led events in your region as identified by the National Photography Network Lead and AIA Mobilisation Coordinator
-
Being available for pre-event briefings
-
Delivering captured multimedia content in timely fashion
This is an ideal volunteer role for someone who is either studying photography at a tertiary level or who has had some amateur / semi-professional / professional level photography experience and is looking to volunteer on an ad-hoc basis to help meaningfully capture and communicate the important work that we do in fighting for human rights.
We will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis and encourage you to apply as soon as possible. If this role sounds like you please apply below. If you have any further questions, reach out to aava.adhikari@amnesty.org.au
You must answer the following selection criteria and attach your portfolio as part of your application. If you aren’t at the level in which you have a professional portfolio, that’s completely fine. Instead please upload two to three photos that you’ve taken that you are proud of and feel demonstrate your ability and style.
Selection Criteria:
This opportunity within Amnesty International Australia is on a volunteer and unpaid basis. There is no intention to enter into an employment or legal relationship by either party. By applying for this opportunity, you agree to the above.

About Us:
Amnesty International Australia is one of Australia’s largest not for profit organisations. We are an independent, global movement that campaigns courageously for human rights for everyone.
We’re ordinary people from all walks of life, standing together for justice, freedom, human dignity and equality. We use our passion and commitment to bring torturers to justice, change oppressive laws and free people imprisoned just for voicing their opinion.
We’re independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion to ensure we can speak out on human rights abuses wherever they occur.
Every day we move closer to a world where human rights are enjoyed by all.
